For K-5 teachers who work within the five boroughs of New York City only. Each school is limited to a maximum five participants.
Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to teaching that is deeply rooted in social-emotional learning and focused on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness. You will learn to create safe and joyful learning communities where every student can thrive—while helping your students develop strong social, emotional, and academic skills.
Participants leave this course with the ability to:
1. Create a safe and inclusive school climate and culture
2. Establish rules and routines to manage classrooms effectively
3. Design engaging, active, and interactive lessons
4. Use effective communication to promote academic and social growth
5. Implement a nonpunitive discipline framework that offers empathy, preserves dignity, and repairs relationships
6. Partner effectively with students’ families
