This professional development session will walk administrators through the essential steps of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) high school registration process. Participants will gain clarity on what it means to be a “registered” high school in New York State, why it matters for graduation credentials and Regents diplomas, and what responsibilities come with that status.
The session will break down the application and approval process, including curriculum alignment, staffing qualifications, instructional time requirements, and the submission of key documentation such as the Comprehensive Educational Plan. We'll also discuss common pitfalls and how to avoid delays in the approval process. Administrators will leave with a practical roadmap, checklists, and timelines that can be adapted to their school’s unique context. In addition to procedural guidance, this session will include real-world insights and case studies from schools that have recently gone through the registration process.
